As it gets closer to the sun the comet vents more gasses, but no huge tail like a comet. A comet is usually mostly ices with some dirt mixed in. When it melts & evaporates, it leaves a huge tail. I see dirt, rocks, & mud with some ice. This is more like what you'd see if an asteroid got closer to the sun.
