These were taken by the Juno spacecraft launched on August 5, 2011. It entered polar orbit around Jupiter on July 5, 2016. The images are taken in infrared light, not visible light. So Jupiter does not look like this to the human eye. That's why the images look like paintings rather than pictures, but they really are infrared pictures. They are colored by temperature, where blues & violets would be the coldest spots, & reds & oranges would be the hottest spots.

The Juno spacecraft is expected to keep functioning around Jupiter at least through part of 2018.

I found the latest images of Jupiter. You can see bigger images at the NASA site, but you won't find sharper clearer ones than these that I enhanced myself. Because they are sharper, they're also zoom-able without losing too much sharpness. Just zoom the image or our whole page to make it a little bigger.
