Title: Latest images from Pluto
Post by: Psk on July 06, 2015, 02:11:51 AM
As of July 3, 2015, the New Horizons is still too far away to get any decent pictures of Pluto, but they are getting a little bit better. July 4th, due to a computer glitch the spacecraft was put into safe mode. But should resume ordinary operations today. They may take only 1 picture today.

So here's what we got of tiny Pluto so far, dramatically enhanced by me, & my own special software. You won't find any better pictures of Pluto as of today at this time anywhere else yet.

Here's some more newer pictures of Pluto as the New Horizons spacecraft gets closer. Pluto & it's largest moon are very small & the probe is still millions of miles away. But every day, the view gets a little bit better.

These were enhanced to the limit, with edge detection software pushed to the max to get any detail possible from the original blurry, very tiny images (only originally less than 2 dozen pixels across).  In the last 2 images in this set, I artificially turn down the reds a bit to bring out the details & hues of less redder objects.

In the last one of the set, with the enhancements, it appears pluto is a heavily cratered object. That's about what we would expect in the solar system where there is no water, wind, & weather erosion to wear down old craters, & no volcanic or geologic activity to erase them.

They finally released another picture. The flyby was hours ago, but it takes about 9 hours at the speed of light for the signals from the probe to reach us, then who knows how long before a picture is actually sent, processed & made public.

In the first picture, is the most recent image exactly the way NASA released it.

The next ones are how they look processed by me & my homemade imaging software.

Enjoy!

In this next one, I turn down the reds a little bit to bring out some of the less-red colors.

After working night last night I decided to stay up for the newest pix. They said the data stream of the flyby would arrive on earth at around 2:35am. They said it would take 90 minute to download each 2mb picture. Huh??? These aren't 2mb images even in RAW! And at their 2kbs bit rate, a 2mb image would only take 17 minutes to download. Then they wonder why there there are so many conspiracy theories about almost everything governments, NASA, & the military do. Why BS & lie to us if they don't have something to hide? In the real world if you spewing BS lies, nobody is gonna believe anything you say anymore.

So I stayed up until 9am this morning waiting for new pictures than never came.

Anywho here they are. This first one is the original NASA release.

This one is my enhanced view of Charon using my special software & techniques to bring out more detail.

In this one, I turn down the reds a lot, to bring out the other colors & details more.

This is the original closeup from NASA of Pluto un-enhanced, just as they released it.

This is my special enhanced version. The original was black & white. What I did was take the image of a blurry color global view of the same area, & overlaid the color of that area it over the B&W area. So although some of the color may be close, it is not 100% accurate & true color.

They just released another image of Charon. But it's so pixelated I didn't bother enhancing it because it would enhance the large square pixels. Noise reduction & edge detection wouldn't work well because the pixelation squares are too large. They would be detected as part of the real image.

Another poor quality image just released.

The first is the NASA original. The second is enhanced to see as much detail as possible, & tinted according to a color image of the same area.

Getting tired of official NASA releases of Pluto images at a rate of 1 or 2 new pictures every 3-5 days, so I dug up what I can of non-press release images not available on most public sites. Once again I enhanced them using my own software as best as possible.

Some of these were posted before but these are clearer or differently enhanced versions.

Enjoy!

They released some more New Horizons images of Pluto. But most of them look like ones they released before except they're a little better resolution. I also added some enhanced captures from the video of the flyby.

Enjoy!

NASA is suggesting that Pluto is mostly ices, like comets. But the enhanced pictures here of comets show they are mostly frozen mud balls. In these enhanced pix of Pluto, it looks like a lot of frozen mud too.

In the last picture of this set, we see the the view of the haze surrounding Pluto as the spacecraft leaves the area.

Goodbye dear Pluto.

NASA promises to release lots more & clearer images of Pluto & Charon over the next few months.

They released some more new Pluto images. Some of them are the same ones we saw before, but these are higher resolution versions with much better detail, & a few more true color pictures.

Many of them at the NASA site don't look much better than my previously posted pix because I enhanced their lower resolution ones using my own homemade software & techniques. Using those same techniques on these higher resolution images gives us an opportunity to zoom in even closer.

Gotta love the new color pictures too. As before, I tinted all the black & white images the approximate average color of the planet so they look more realistic, but are not true color. So the ones where everything in the image is the same orangish shade are not true color, & were originally B&W, but look more real that way.

You will not see any Pluto pictures anywhere that have as much detail as these specially enhanced versions anywhere else on the internet, unless they were taken from here.

Enjoy!

Wow. It almost looks like something is growing on Pluto. It's so cold there, water & many gases are ice as hard as glass. but some of the lightest gases might be liquid. So if there is life, it would be of a strange kind that doesn't need water. Water on Pluto is just rock.

I've tried different methods to super enhance Pluto's moon Hydra, & also applied different filters to bring out different details. No matter which way I try to enhance it, unlike the original NASA photo, it does not look like a rock, but a constructed object.

Some of the uneven or bumpy lines could be the results of the image blurring or distorting at this high magnification as our probe zooms by. That's why the lines & bumps look slightly different depending on what filters or enhancements I used. One could also imagine that a constructed object in orbit for thousands or millions of years would be a little twisted, dented, or distorted over the eons of time too.

But clearly this does not look like just a rock in space. It has obvious structure to it.

They've release some higher resolution full color images of Pluto's moon, Charon last week. I enhanced them to show more detail.

So I enhanced them using my own techniques, & unique homemade imaging software to bring out more detail.

NASA say these are the highest resolution images or Pluto & Charon yet. I don't know about that,  as I already see better versions of them previously posted here. Some of these newly released ones, in their original form, were 2,000 - 5,000 pixels wide. But most of them were blurry, grainy, or lacked detail compared to many of their older images. To me, it appears the just took 30-50kb images & simply just scaled them up to a larger file size to call them new.

Anywho, here they are after I enhanced & cleaned them up considerably. But please check out our previous images here to see the most dazzling ones.

Here another one they say is a new higher resolution version of Pluto, but we already had this exact image of Pluto in much better quality here. Taking a blurry or grainy image & blowing it up does not make it better or higher resolution & new, it just makes the blur & grain bigger. Of course, I cleaned this one up, sharpened it, enhanced it, & shrunk it back down close to it's original size. You can always blow it back up again by pressing your zoom button.
